SHIMLA: A short film 'Nainsukh' on the life of great pahari painter of 18 century- Nainsukh of Guler in Himachal Pradesh was screened at Gaiety Theatre in Shimla on Tuesday. Nainsukh was one of the prominent artists of his times.
Chief minister Virbhadra Singh lauded the efforts of film director Amit Dutta for showcasing the background of Nainsukh's life and his masterpieces.
Goswamy also threw light on the life and paintings of Nainsukh and the circumstances which made him conduct the research on Nainsukh and about his paintings which he said speaks live and was recreation of the times of Nainsukh.
He said that Nainsukh was an agent of change, who changed the minds of people by his majestic art work. Pahari paintings were moving in one direction when Nainsukh responded to Pahari paintings in his own style and drew parallel between penetration of characters and intensity of colouring therein.
Directed by Amit Dutta a graduate from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune in 2004, the film precisely reflects the colour combination and moods of paintings, both pensive and cheerful of Nainsukh.
