and his son Vikram Sharma, who had tested

Covid-19

positive recently, were shifted to Fortis Hospital Mohali for treatment on Wednesday. Shanta Kumar’s wife Santosh Shailja, (83) who had also tested positive had died at Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College Tanda in Kangra on Tuesday morning.

The reason of death has been found to be Covid-related pneumonia with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

Chief medical officer, Kangra, Dr Gurdarshan Gupta said Shanta Kumar and his son both had mild symptoms of Covid-19 and were in home isolation.

He said Shanta Kumar on Wednesday morning desired to get further treatment at Fortis Hospital Mohali after which they were shifted there in ambulance. Shanta Kumar along with his wife, son and daughterin-law had tested positive for Covid-19 last week. Two of his staff members had also tested positive for Covid-19.
