Retired IAS to suggest ways to make HPTDC profitable

Shimla: After the Himachal Pradesh high court last month observed that the state govt’s tourism corporation is in a “shambles” as it is not able to manage properties even at prime locations, state govt on Thursday constituted a one-member committee to examine the corporation’s fiscal situation.Retired IAS officer Tarun Shridhar’s committee has been tasked to examine the present financial position of HPTDC and suggest remedial measures to bring the corporation in profit. The committee has to submit its recommendations to state govt within six months. “Shridhar while agreeing to head the committee, has expressly refused to accept any financial remuneration whatsoever, including the proposed sitting fee,” reads the order issued on Wednesday.

Probe allegations in Hema Committee report: HC to SIT

The high court has instructed a special investigation team to probe sexual assault allegations in the cinema industry, based on the Justice Hema Committee report. The SIT must protect victim identities and investigate the use of alcohol and drugs on sets. Compliance will be reviewed on Oct 28.

Establish hospital-based committees to approve organ transplants: HC to govt

The high court has directed the state government to form hospital-based committees as required by the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Rules, 2014. This directive follows a petition for kidney transplant approval, highlighting the absence of such committees and the non-compliance of district-level committees, which currently handle all transplant approvals.

State govt rejects Panaji corporations request to shift to old PWD building

The government denied the request of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) for space in the old PWD complex, obstructing their plan to relocate for new office construction. Currently, CCP finds the space allocated in the old commercial tax office insufficient.
