Shimla: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday congratulated Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi for her victory in the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll.
Sukhu said the record-breaking win in Wayanad marked a significant milestone in Priyanka’s electoral journey and it would further strengthen the Congress party.
He also congratulated senior leaders and party workers for their success in the Jharkhand assembly elections, hailing their dedication and hard work.
The CM, meanwhile, criticised the BJP for engaging in obstructionist rather than cooperative politics in Himachal Pradesh. “The BJP evades addressing public concerns and avoids discussing their five-year performance. Instead, they divert attention to matters like toilet tax and samosas,” he said.
Sukhu further said the public deserved to know why the standards of education and healthcare declined during the BJP regime. He said his govt was committed to fulfilling all its promises and leading Himachal on the path of development.
The CM said the BJP in Himachal was divided into five factions each led by J P Nadda, Anurag Thakur, Jairam Thakur, Rajeev Bindal, and a group of former Congress members who joined the saffron party and were now referred to as the “East India Company”.
Sukhu said the opposition failed to engage in policy-based criticism and was rather targeting him personally. “Despite their efforts, the current state govt is steadfast in its commitment to advancing Himachal Pradesh on the path of development,” he said.
