3.5cr assets of 7 drug cases accused sealed

Shimla: In a first this year, police in Solan have frozen the seized assets of seven accused in three cases of drug smuggling. They are worth more than Rs 3.5 crore
In one of the cases, the accused was charged with the possession of about 37kg of charas. Another FIR involved charges of heroin smuggling against Gurpreet Singh of Sirsa district in Haryana. The third FIR also pertained to heroin smuggling in which the property of Chandigarh-based Kapil Garg was seized. In one of these cases, it was found that a youth had died due to overdose of heroin at Jutogh in Shimla.
Investigation revealed that Kapil Garg along with his sons ran a drug business in the guise of running a hotel and had acquired property worth crores in his wife and his names. He had bought land, house, hotel, acquired bank balance and had several fixed deposits, all of which were worth nearly Rs 2.33 crore. The accused also made transactions of about Rs 21 crore from his bank accounts over the last few years.
