SHIMLA: A couple from Nepal has been accused of stealing jewelry and other valuables from a family in Shimla, police reported.
The incident took place at an apple orchard in Chiwa village. The couple, identified as Krishan and his wife Isha, allegedly served the family food laced with intoxicants, according to authorities.
Police stated that the suspects mixed poison into the food prepared for the family members and the caretaker. When the victims - the caretaker and two women from the family - lost consciousness, the accused stole gold ornaments and other valuables before fleeing the scene.
Police are actively searching for the absconding couple. Kumari Marisha, a member of the affected family, mentioned in her complaint that the couple had been hired as laborers only four days prior to the incident.
