SHIMLA: Despite Sanjauli mosque committee’s undertaking to demolish an unauthorised portion of the disputed mosque, the All-Himachal Muslims’ Organisation (AWHO) has announced to challenge Shimla municipal commissioner court’s Oct 5 order to demolish the top three floors of the 5-storeyed structure.
Municipal commissioner Bhupender Kumar Attri’s court had on Oct 5 ordered to demolish the mosque’s portion constructed beyond permissible limit by Muslim welfare committee on its own cost within two months. But, now, AHMO state spokesperson Nazakat Ali Hashmi has announced after a meeting in Shimla on Wednesday that those who have given an undertaking before the commissioner’s court to carry out demolition of a portion of the mosque were neither authorised by Wakf Board nor were they office-bearers of any organisation.
Therefore, Hashmi said, the municipal commissioner court’s order, based on the undertaking given by Sanjauli mosque committee, is contrary to facts. “It has been decided in the meeting that the entire Muslim community does not agree with the commissioner court’s order and we have decided that as soon as we get the certified copy of the order, we will challenge it before the next appellate authority,” said Hashmi. He added even if they fail to get justice, they are ready to take the case up to Supreme Court and will only agree to the court’s judgment based on facts.
Right-wing group calls for boycott of MuslimsDevbhoomi Sangharsh Samiti, which has carried out protests across the state demanding demolition of the mosque, on Thursday put boards of ‘Sanatan Sabzi Wala’ outside various shops owned by Hindus in Sanjauli market with an appeal to economically boycott Muslim vendors in the area.

The Dev Bhoomi Sangharsh Samiti welcomed the decision, but claims the entire building is illegal.
