Manali: Aarzoo Rana, 22, of Janjehli in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district was crowned Winter Queen 2023 on Friday night at the annual Winter Carnival, while Nitika from Shimla and Smriti from Kullu were first and second runner-up, respectively.
Beauties from many states auditioned for this pageant but 27 competed in the first and second rounds, 15 in the third round, and six in the final stage. The three-days contest included catwalk in both traditional and western attire, question and answer round, and IQ test. After the final two rounds on Friday, Arzoo was crowned the winner at midnight.
Arzoo gave the credit of her victory to supportive parents. Her first modeling experience was at a local event in Mandi district. She said: “My entire family was screaming with happiness after I won the pageant. It gives me the confidence to prepared for bigger events. I also thank all the groomers who improved our catwalk, posture, and costumes. My father used to be in the Army.”
First runner-up Nitika said: “The completion was tough, but I am happy that there was no snowfall in the final round. I dedicate the title to my family, my father especially. He is in the Army and going back to the job on Sunday.” Second runner-up Smriti, whose father is a cop, said: “Despite being from a rural area, my parents gave me the freedom to choose modeling as a career.”
