Nigulsari landslide severs Kinnaur from Shimla

Shimla: A huge landslide blocked the national highway also known as Hindustan-Tibet road in Negulsari on Tuesday morning which cut off the tribal district of Kinnaur from Shimla. Though the landslide on a nearly 70-meter stretch did not result in an injury to any person or damaging any vehicle, numerous apple-laden trucks besides tourists vehicles got struck on both sides of the highway portion hit by the landslide. The public works department machinery was pressed into service to clear the highway but as the debris continued to roll down, it kept delaying the highway clearance operations. The operation to clear the highway was in progress till the filing of the report. A similar landslide had hit Negulasari in Sept last. TNN

Badrinath national highway reopens after debris clearance in Uttarakhand's Chatwapipal

The Badrinath National Highway near Chatwapipal has reopened after debris clearance, Chamoli Police confirmed. Blocked due to accumulation near Nandprayag, efforts cleared the road by 10 am. IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand from September 25-27. Previous landslides caused repeated highway blockages, with additional disruptions on alternative routes.
