Jairam Thakur opens national basketball championship, 24 states participating
Chief minister arriving for the event at Kangra town
DHARAMSHALA: Chief minister Jairam Thakur opened the National Basketball championship at Kangra town near here on Monday and 24 states are participating in this event. This is the 45th such championship in the state with 600 participants from across the country.
Thakur said that an indoor stadium would be constructed at Kangra for ensuring best sports infrastructure in the region for different sports.

He said that good sports infrastructure would be created in the State, especially in the rural areas so that the youth could get opportunity to show their talent.
He announced funds amounting to rupees 10 lakhs for sports infrastructure at Kangra. The event is being organized by the Himachal Pradesh Basketball association.
President Basketball Federation of India K Govind Raj appreciated the efforts of the State Basketball Association for organizing sub junior level completion. “This is vital for the any sports events as it was at his stage that youth chose sports as their career” he said.
Captain of Indian Women Basketball Team Shia Mahajan administered oath of maintaining high sportsmen spirit to the participants.
