4-day International Lavi Fair to be held in Rampur from Nov 11

Shimla: International Lavi Fair will be organised from November 11 to 14 in Rampur. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla will inaugurate the international fair on November 14 and chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony. The fair will be organised at Post-graduate College ground in Rampur, while cultural programmes will take place at Padam Senior Secondary School ground in Rampur. Shimla deputy commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired a meeting of the organising committee of the fair on Wednesday to discuss the preparations for the four-day international fair. In the meeting, chairman of the seventh state finance commission Nand Lal said various people have given important suggestions regarding the preparations of the fair and transparency will be maintained at every level in organising it.

Fair share: Women kidney recipients on rise

At Ahmedabad's Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre, women have traditionally constituted over 66% of living kidney donors, but only a small portion of recipients. However, policy changes have improved their access to cadaver donations, with female recipients surpassing 50% for the first time in 2023. Experts call for further awareness to address this disparity.

Green & orange, the new colour for fair price shops

To help people, particularly migrants, identify fair price shops (FPS) in Goa, the government is painting these shops with a green and orange colour scheme. Already underway in Tiswadi and Quepem, the effort aims to modernize FPS. Additionally, a new scheme to provide financial compensation to FPS dealers will soon be launched to enhance their stability.

CM promises fair probe, more action against Divya

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan assured a fair probe into the death of ADM Naveen Babu, hinting possible action against ex-Kannur panchayat president PP Divya after the police report. Divya, accused of abetment of suicide, faces court hearings amidst widespread protests demanding her arrest. Vijayan emphasized no government interference in the investigation.
