Rehab centre planned in Sirmaur: HP CM

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has said state govt is going to establish a model de-addiction and rehabilitation center at Kotla Barog in the Pachhad subdivision of Sirmaur district.
The state-level facility will also assist individuals battle substance abuse and help reintegrate them into mainstream society. The CM also launched a drug eradication initiative, Sankalp, aimed at handling increasing cases of drug addiction among youth. The event was organised by the Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan in Shimla. He highlighted govt’s commitment to curbing drug trafficking and supporting rehabilitation. Also, a center of excellence is also being constructed at Kandaghat in Solan district to provide higher education to 9,000 specially-abled children, he said. tnn

Madras High Court ruled that all buildings, including government structures, on waterbodies in Pudukkottai district must be considered encroachments. The court dismissed a plea by a private individual against eviction but clarified that government buildings must also be removed. The petitioner was given four months to find alternative accommodation, with assistance if eligible.
