Get marriage, birth & death certs online soon: Sukhu
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday announced that marriage, birth and death certificates issued by gram panchayats will soon be available online.
Presiding over a review meeting of the rural development and panchayati raj department, Sukhu reiterated the govt’s commitment to delivering essential services to citizens on their doorsteps.
On rural employent, he said 344.31 lakh labour days have been achieved under MGNREGA in 2023-24 financial year, surpassing the initial target of 275 lakh labour days.
This apart, the CM said, 17,582 villages will be transformed into open defecation free plus models this fiscal, and 9,203 villages had already achieved this status. Besides, 2,347 villages have been verified as ODF plus, he added. As many as 32 plastic waste management units have been built in development blocks with 26 of them already operational. These units will eventually be set up in all development blocks, he assured. The CM said the state has formed 43,161 self-help groups and is providing them financial assistance to boost their economic activities. He announced plans to create an online platform for SHGs to market their products to widen their reach.
