‘Govt planning policy on jobs to kin of deceased staff’

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said on Monday that the state govt was contemplating to formulate a compassionate employment policy for those who lost their family members during govt service.
State govt is adopting a liberal and sympathetic approach to offer employment to such family members, said the CM while chairing a meeting. He directed officers to compile and present department-wise details of applicants and said govt will take appropriate decisions, keeping in view all aspects to benefit the maximum number of applicants. HP govt is committed to supporting the well-being of dependants by giving preference to widows and orphans in providing employment on compassionate grounds, he added.
Sukhu said incumbent state govt had taken numerous initiatives to ensure the well-being of govt employees.
He said it was in the first cabinet meeting the state govt had reinstated the old pension scheme (OPS) to all govt employees. State govt had also released 11% dearness allowance to all govt employees and pensioners within two years of the govt’s tenure, he added.
