Plan for store with geothermal tech

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh govt is constructing the world's first controlled atmosphere (CA) storage facility with geothermal technology at Tapri in Kinnaur district. Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said on Saturday the facility — which helps maintain the quality of fresh produce and extend its shelf life — would immensely benefit horticulturists. The state govt and Iceland have already signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the CA store, Sukhu said at the closing ceremony of the four-day state-level Kinnaur Mahotsav held in the district headquarters on Saturday evening.

Earthquake of magnitude 3.3 hits Kinnaur region of Himachal Pradesh

A 3.3 magnitude earthquake struck the Kinnaur region of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday morning, reported by the National Center of Seismology. Occurring at 9.23am IST, the quake had a depth of 10 km with its epicenter positioned at Latitude 31.47 N and Longitude 78.35 E. No immediate reports of damage or casualties were mentioned.

Fire breaks out in paper storage facility, none hurt

A significant fire erupted at a paper storage facility in Alipur, northwest Delhi, requiring over 150 firefighters and 30 fire tenders to battle the blaze for more than seven hours. Chief Minister Atishi monitored the situation closely. The godown lacked a fire NOC, and an investigation is underway. No injuries have been reported.

Govt plans to expedite new airport works in Nellore district

The Andhra Pradesh government is hastening plans for a new airport near Dagadarthi, Nellore district. With land identified but partially acquired, efforts are ongoing to secure the remaining area.
