Constable recruitment: Nov 12 last date to apply

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has extended the deadline for the submission of applications for the recruitment of 1,088 police constables from Oct 31 to Nov 12.
A govt spokesperson informed that the extension in deadline was intended at allowing more time for the youth across the state to apply for the post. The decision will benefit thousands of prospective candidates, said the spokesperson.
The spokesperson further said chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was prioritising more and more employment generation and during his 20 months’ tenure he has created over 31,000 job opportunities for the youth.
To promote gender equality in the state, the present state govt has reserved 30% vacancies for women in the police department. Out of 1,088 posts, 380 posts have been specifically allotted for women constables and the remaining 708 positions are open to male candidates, said the spokesperson.
The state govt has given one-year relaxation in the maximum age limit for police constable recruitment. Under the revised age limit, general category applicants aged between 18 and 26 years; SC, ST, OBC, Gorkha and distinguished sports persons aged between 18 and 28 years and home guards aged between 20 and 29 years will be eligible to apply for these posts.
