SHIMLA: Manali-Leh national highway at Kainchi Morh (Nehru Kund) in Kullu district is blocked since Tuesday night after a landslide occurred in the area.
Traffic has been blocked on both sides of slide point and there is long queue of vehicles on both sides.
According to the information received from the traffic police Manali, light vehicles are being diverted through Palchan from Manali and Leh.
Landslide occurred in Nehru Kund at 9pm on Tuesday due to which the Manali-Leh road has been closed.
Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is engaged in road restoration. Heavy vehicles coming from Leh and Lahaul side are halted at Palchan, while heavy vehicles going from Manali are stopped at Bahang.
The Manali administration swung into action as soon as the information about the landslide was received in the night. At nine o'clock in the night, police personnel were deployed in Palchan and Bahang to stop the movement of vehicles.
Big stones are falling from the hill at the slide point between Nehru Kund to Kulang.
The risk has increased due to stones falling at different locations.
As soon as the information about the landslide was received, the BRO started the work to clear the road for the restoration of traffic at night. But the restoration had to be stopped due to falling stones.
