HPMC procured 25k MT apple via online scheme: Min

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh revenue and horticulture minister Jagat Singh Negi on Tuesday said Himachal Pradesh Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (HPMC) procured nearly 25,000 metric tonne (MT) apples through online market intervention scheme (MIS) portal this year and most of it was processed to produce about 2,000 MT (20 lakh litre) of apple juice concentrate (AJC).
Chairing the 216th meeting of the board of directors and 40th annual general meeting of the HPMC on Tuesday, Negi asserted that the HPMC had efficiently carried out the MIS apple procurement operations in its 200 apple collection centres. He said by avoiding the auction of grade-C apples in an open market, the HPMC prevented environmental pollution. It was also agreed to send a proposal to rationalise the number of apple collection centres and HPMC would be the only agency conducting MIS procurement operations in the state. TNN
