No posts in depts to be abolished, clarifies CM

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said on Saturday that the Congress govt is committed to provide employment to the youth of the state and the information in social media about abolition of some posts in various departments is baseless and part of false propaganda. Addressing mediapersons, the chief minister said that there are many such posts in various govt departments which are not functional for many years and the designation of those posts is being changed on the basis of current requirements. Citing an example, he added that at present, the posts of junior office assistant (information technology) are being created and filled in place of clerk typist. Sukhu said that these posts are not being abolished and only their designation is being changed after completing various formalities and a letter has also been issued by the finance department to various departments on this on Oct 23. The chief minister added that the government departments are keeping these posts on their budget books and on their basis assess the budget related needs and send proposals to the government. The finance department reviews such posts and sends proposals to create posts of current requirement in their place, he said. “Sending accounts of posts not currently required such as gestetner operator creates financial confusion, so the finance department shares various information with other departments,” added the chief minister.
