SHIMLA: Vani Gautam of SVPM Government Girls' Senior Secondary School, Ghumarwin, in Bilaspur district is overall topper of the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education's Class XII examinations with 98.8% marks, while the overall pass percentage is 93.91.

The second place went to Akshita Sharma of Government Senior Secondary School, Berthin, also from Bilaspur district, Shagun Rana of Ishan Public Senior Secondary School, Har (Samloti), in Kangra district, and Kshitiz Sharma of New Gurukul Public School, Gopal Nagar, in Hamirpur district, with an identical score of 98.6%. The third spot went to Aryan Puri of Government Senior Secondary School, Dhusara, in Una district with 98.4% marks.

Girls had outperformed the boys once again in all the three streams when the results came out in Dharamshala on Saturday with 82,342 successful candidates out of 88,013. The top-10 list of 92 includes 76 girls and 16 boys. Of all the candidates, 327 missed the tests, 1,889 failed, and 3,379 got compartment. The pass percentage has improved from 92.77 in the year 2020-21, 76.07 in 2019-20, and 55.26 in 2018-19. All 10 merit positions of the humanities stream went to the girls, who were 20 in number.
