She said her house was washed away in the mudslide and the livestock perished. The area has been witnessing heavy rains for the past few days. Rescue teams from Mandi and Jogindernagar had reached the spot immediately after the inciden. Mandi deputy commissioner Sandeep Kadam said teams of NDRF, Army, police and home guards have been deployed at the spot.

Virbhadra Singh also visited Kotrupi and directed the officials to intensify rescue and relief efforts. He distributed immediate relief to the next of the kin of deceased and injured.
State revenue minister
Kaul Singh Thakur announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased, while transport minister announced Rs 1 lakh assistance.
Some of the people who died in the incident have been identified as Suruchi Thakur (from Jimjima in Mandi district), Neha (Khadun, in Sarkaghat), Vinod Kumar (Gumma, Mandi district).
