Shiv Pratap Shukla on Wednesday paid tributes to the father of the nation,
Mahatma Gandhi, and former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries.
Offering floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at the historic Ridge in Shimla, the governor praised his unwavering commitment to truth, harmony, and non-violence. “Gandhi ji gave the message of peace and non-violence to the world and today the PM is walking in his footsteps, continuously having dialogues with the war-torn countries, spreading the message of peace in the world,” he said.
Reflecting on Mahatma Gandhi's principles of swadeshi, swaraj and self-reliance, the governor said his teachings continue to inspire all even today.
Remembering Lal Bahadur Shastri at CTO Chowk, the governor said, “Shastri ji inspired the countrymen to make India self-reliant through his slogan ‘Jai Jawaan, Jai Kisan’.
. He said the coming generations must know about these great sons of the soil to learn more about their lives and the messages they gave to the world.
