Himachal cops freeze assets of drug dealer, his relatives

Shimla: In a tough stand against narcotics trade, the Himachal Pradesh police have frozen the assets of a drug trader and his relatives in the state. According to sources, property worth Rs 94,00,866 has been frozen, and the accused has been identified as Joni. The property to be frozen includes two houses, one SUV and several bank accounts. DGP Sanjay Kundu has congratulated SP, Nurpur, and SHO Damtal for conducting a financial investigation in the above mentioned case. A case under FIR No 169/2019 dated December 12, 2019, was registered in Kangra district after 6.27 grams of heroin was recovered from the possession of Joni. After completion of the investigation, the challan of this case was put up in the court of chief judicial magistrate, Dharamshala, on 27 July last year. Besides this, the SHO of police station Damtal conducted the financial investigation of the illegal properties acquired by the accused. During investigation, it has been found that the properties worth of Rs 94,00,866 have been acquired by the accused person in his name and in the names of his relatives out of illegal money earned from drug trade.
