Lavi fair ends, CM buys 1kg walnuts

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, presided over the last cultural evening of the ‘International Lavi Fair-2024’ at Rampur in district Shimla, on Thursday evening and released a souvenir. The CM made purchases worth Rs 8,900 at the fair after attending the closing ceremony. He interacted with the vendors at the fair and purchased 1kg walnuts and a “dohru” (woollen blanket). He said that the state govt was promoting handloom products which were not just commercial goods but also embodied the rich culture of the state. He added that fairs like Lavi were not only celebrations but also symbolised the spirit of brotherhood and goodwill, with a history dating back centuries. He further said that the state govt was making earnest efforts to strengthen the rural economy and had undertaken numerous initiatives in this regard over the past two years, with plans to intensify these efforts in the future. Three drown in Shuklatirth fair

Tragedy struck the Kartik Poornima fair in Shuklatirth, Bharuch, as three individuals, including a father and son, lost their lives in a drowning accident in the Narmada River. The victims, belonging to the Mistry family, were participating in a ritualistic offering when they were swept away by the strong currents.
