Sukhu offers tribute to Indira, Sardar Patel

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, while celebrating Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas at the historic Ridge in Shimla, paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.The Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas is observed on Indira Gandhi’s death anniversary on Oct 31 to honour her enduring legacy. The CM also administered the Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas oath to people. He added that Indira Gandhi sacrificed her life for the nation and dedicated herself to preserve the unity and integrity of the country. Her unwavering commitment, patriotism and resilience in facing the challenges posed by terrorism were beyond description, added Sukhu. The former PM initiated programmes for the upliftment and development of weaker sections of society, leaving a lasting impact on social welfare and nation's progress, said Sukhu.The CM also paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary. Sukhu recalled Patel’s pivotal role in unifying the princely states.
