Sukhu bats for ‘green bonus’ for state in Niti Aayog meet
Shimla: Batting for a “different deal for hill states” due to their special needs, Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Thursday urged Niti Aayog to consider providing a ‘green bonus’ to the state for its efforts in protecting forest cover and natural resources.
In a meeting with Niti Aayog vice-chairman Suman Bery, member V K Paul, and a panel of experts in New Delhi, the CM said Himachal acts as the lungs for north India and must get ‘green bonus’. He urged the Niti Aayog to study the peculiar needs of the state and plead its case with the funding agencies and the Finance Commission. tnn
