DHARAMSHALA: Caste polarization against
BJP and
Congress in
Dharamshala constituency
of
Himachal Pradesh
has brought an
independent candidate
in fight against ruling party BJP and out-shined Congress. Caste factor had made the elections here a triangular contest.
Independent candidate, a BJP rebel, Rakesh Chaudhary stood at second place with 16740 votes, he was second after BJP (23,498 votes). Chaudhary also surpassed Congress (8212 votes).
The reasons that triggered caste factor was that both Congress and BJP fielded candidates from Gaddi community. BJP leaders also failed to placate the rebel. Both the parties have never given candidate from OBC community.
Rakesh Choudhary
was representing the OBC (Other Backward Caste) community. He secured a good number of votes as he had also served a tenure as village head of Paddhar village in Dharamshala constituency.
Out of total votes 52,939 casted in this constituency, The maximum percentage of the polling was witnessed in the areas with the majority of OBC population. This has put BJP and Congress in a fix before the election results were not out.
