Kullu: To mark Congress govt’s two years in Himachal Pradesh, a mega event will be organised at Kahlur Sports Complex in Bilaspur on Dec 11.

Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced this during a meeting with Congress leaders at his official residence, Oak Over, on Sunday and discussed various developmental initiatives for Bilaspur district.
Technical education minister Rajesh Dharmani, former minister Ram Lal Thakur, former MLA Bumber Thakur, and Congress leader Vivek Kumar were present during the meeting.
The CM directed officials concerned to begin arrangements for the event, which will be attended by over 25,000 people.
Discussions were also held on developmental projects under way in the district, including construction of Beri-Dadola Bridge, which would benefit the residents of three constituencies: Bilaspur Sadar, Jhanduta, and Ghumarwin.
The senior leaders apprised the CM that approach roads on both sides of the bridge have already been constructed.
The CM assured them that the construction of the bridge would be prioritised, and following a survey the govt would make necessary financial arrangements for the project, he said.
Former minister Ram Lal Thakur demanded granting of nagar panchayat status to Swarghat under the Naina Devi Ji assembly constituency, while Vivek Kumar raised a similar demand for Jhanduta under the Jhanduta assembly constituency.
The CM assured both leaders that the govt would seriously consider these demands and make every effort to grant nagar panchayat status to these areas.
The Congress leaders expressed gratitude to the CM for introducing an MTech course in electrical engineering (electric vehicle technology) at the Govt Hydro Engineering College, Bandla, Bilaspur. The leaders also appreciated the initiation of water sports activities in Gobind Sagar Lake, which has created employment opportunities for the locals, contributing to the region’s economic prosperity.
