Himachal: Bus meets with accident in Chamba, one person dies

(Punjab) rolled 100 meter down the road on Sunday morning at around 6.20 am, leaving seven persons injured including driver and conductor, while one person died on spot. Roads have turned slippery in the area after nightlong heavy rains.


Dr Monika Bhutungru, superintendent of police, Chamba told TOI over phone that exact reason behind the accident was yet to be known but prima facie it appeared that driver lost control while descending a sharp curve.

“Injured have been taken to hospital. All ersons are out of danger. Further investigations are on in this case. Identification of the deceased and injured is being ascertained,” she said.

Incident took place at Dagoh area near Tunuhatti of

Chamba district

after bus moved 40 KMs from Dalhousie towards Patiala.

In recent years, Chamba has earned a bad name due to maximum road accidents. There were total 652 accident spots identified by the authorities in

Himachal Pradesh

out which about 70 were in the district.

Himachal has witnessed heavy to very heavy rains on Saturday night. This has resulted into landslides, flash floods in many areas, while roads have turned dangerous due to shooting stones and muddy water. It is very risky, particularly for two wheelers.
