BJP slams HP govt for ‘shielding mining mafia’

Kullu: Leader of opposition and BJP leader Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday accused the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh govt of shielding the mining mafia and engaging in corruption in the distribution of relief funds meant for the flood-affected victims.While addressing a ‘Jan Akrosh rally’, organised by the BJP in Kullu on Sunday to mark the “two years of Congress govt’s misgovernance”, Thakur alleged that the state govt had banned all stone crushers in the state in the wake of 2023 floods, except one, allowing it to continue its operations.“This one stone crusher supplied the construction material when all others were banned. The owner of this crusher is a friend of the govt. The people of the state want to know why the state govt is patronising the mining mafia,” alleged Thakur.“The govt is observing its two years in office, but which achievements are they celebrating: Unemployment, closure of institutions or imposition of water and power taxes?” questioned Thakur.He alleged that the state govt indulged in corruption in the disbursement of relief funds also. “The funds that the Union govt had released following the 2023 floods never reached all the affected people. It was not a fair distribution,” alleged Thakur. The ‘Jan Akrosh rally’ was also held in Sirmaur and Solan districts of the state.

Release flood relief funds: TNCC to Union govt

TNCC President K. Selvaperunthagai called upon both the Tamil Nadu and Union governments to take action following the Tiruvannamalai landslides. He urged the state government to implement preventative measures against future landslides and requested the Union government to immediately release the 2,000 crore in relief funds sought by the Chief Minister.

State govt lacks funds to purchase quality medicines, alleges Joshi

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi accused the Karnataka state government of financial and intellectual bankruptcy, leading to the purchase of substandard medicines. He criticized Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao's delayed response to medicine shortages in government hospitals and blamed the state for replacing quality-approved IV fluids with substandard ones.

Jan Akrosh rally held in Prayagraj

A protest rally, organized by the Hindu Raksha Samiti, marched through Prayagraj on Tuesday, condemning the alleged atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. Participants, including saints, citizens, lawyers, and members of various organizations, delivered a memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner, urging the Indian government to intervene and protect the Bangladeshi Hindu community.
