Shimla: During the inauguration of Surajkund International Crafts Mela, in which Himachal Pradesh was participating as a 'theme state’, chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said the biggest crafts fair of the world has provided a platform to highlight art, culture and tourism of Himachal. President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the mela on Saturday.
The CM said Himachal is hoping to project the state from a tourism point of view at the mela as well as provide a platform to its diverse products from handicrafts to fruits, tea and honey.
He told the gathering that helicopter service has been started from Chandigarh to Shimla to facilitate tourists. Flights are being operated from Chandigarh to Shimla, Shimla to Kullu and Shimla to Dharamshala under the ‘Uddan’scheme.
