Shillong: The answer is still “blowin in the wind” but the rock music capital of the northeast celebrated the birthday of one of its favourite icons – the living legend Bob Dylan, like it does every year on May 24.The answer blows afresh through the Pine City every year on the Tambourine Man’s birthday. No other city perhaps has been celebrating the birthday of the philosopher-musician without a break for years now.The first Bob Dylan birthday celebration begun with a performance in front of an audience of 30 to 40 people at the Assam Club in the Laban locality of the city in 1972. Ever since, it grew into an annual event drawing fans from across the country and the world.Led by the “forever young” and Shillong’s very own Bob Dylan, Lou Majaw, Dylan fans from all over the country and outside assemble in the ‘Scotland of East’ to pay tributes to the musician on his birthday every year. “The objective of this celebration is to take music as a part of education to every doorstep,” says Lou.
