A constable of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) opened fire and shot dead an assistant commandant and injured three others in South West Khasi Hills on Sunday.

SHILLONG: A constable of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) opened fire and shot dead an assistant commandant and injured three others in South West Khasi Hills on Sunday.
The incident occurred at the RPF camp in Mawkyrkat town, when constable Arjun Deshwal shot at and killed assistant commandant Mukesh Tyagi. Another constable, Joginder Kumar, sustained a bullet injury on his arm.

He is undergoing treatment at the North East Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Science here. An inspector, Pradeep Meena, and a sub-inspector, Om Prakash Yadav, also suffered minor injuries, police said.
"The constable was arrested and his service rifle has been seized. An investigation into the incident is under way," SP HG Lyngdoh said.
