Rights panel seeks report on Shillong killing

Shillong: The Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of the the killing of a daily wager in the city on April 10.The MHRC on Friday issued a notice to the DGP to submit an action taken report to the Commission within 15 days, a statement signed by the MHRC secretary said.Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Arjun Ray, a daily wage worker, who died after being brutally attacked with iron rods by assailants in an under-construction private house at Mawlai Mawroh on Wednesday, was cremated on Friday.
