Two overground workers arrested with arms & ammunition in J&Ks Rajouri
Two overground workers were arrested with arms and ammunition during a joint anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. The operation was carried out by J&K Police's Special Operations Group, along with the local police and Army's Rashtriya Rifles. The arrested individuals were identified as Mohammad Farooq and Mohammad Nazir. The security forces recovered one pistol, two pistol magazines, 30 bullets, two hand grenades, and other items based on their disclosure. Combing operations were intensified in the twin frontier districts of Rajouri and Poonch following a gunfight in Rajouri's Bajimaal area where five army personnel and two terrorists were killed. In another operation, three suspects were detained by a joint team of the Army, Rajouri Police, and CRPF in the Bahrote-Budhal area.
At UN, India calls out state complicity in 'suppressing activities of transnational criminal groups'
India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj, called for action against states providing safe havens to offenders of crime syndicates during a United Nations Security Council debate. Kamboj emphasized the need to address state complicity in suppressing transnational criminal groups and stressed the importance of fulfilling obligations under UNSC resolutions. She highlighted the vulnerability of states with poor governance to exploitation by terrorist entities and organized criminals. Kamboj called for enhanced cooperation among law enforcement and governments worldwide, implementation of international conventions against corruption and organized crime, and investment in technological capabilities.
Malerkotla police raids result in arrest of 17 individuals involved in drug peddling, possession of illegal arms
The Malerkotla police conducted a series of raids at 12 locations, resulting in the arrest of 17 individuals, including those involved in drug peddling and illegal possession of arms. One of the accused was wanted by the Rajasthan Police for a dacoity case. The raids also uncovered criminal activities such as cow slaughter, fraud, and theft. The SSP emphasized the success of the operations in dismantling major drug networks and ensuring a drug-free future for Malerkotla.
