Names of Pala, Sangma approved as Cong LS candidates from Meghalaya

Shillong: A meeting of the screening committee of AICC under the chairmanship of Rana KP Singh held in Rajiv Bhawan, Guwahati on Monday approved the names of MLA from Gambegre assembly constituency, Garo Hills, Saleng Sangma and sitting Lok Sabha member from Shillong, Vincent Pala as party candidates for the Tura and Shillong parliamentary seats respectively for the parliamentary elections, reports Manosh Das.

2 Cong candidates elected unopposed to MLC posts

Congress candidates Mahesh Kumar Goud Bomma and Balmoor Venkat Narsing Rao were elected unopposed as MLCs under the MLA quota. No other party, including the main opposition BRS, fielded candidates. The vacancies arose after the resignation of BRS MLCs Kadiyam Srihari and Padi Kaushik Reddy.
