Meghalaya Strawberry Festival under way

Shillong: The two-day Meghalaya Strawberry Festival commenced on Friday in different parts of East Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills districts, reports Manosh Das.Activities such as strawberry picking, cycling treks, live music, cultural performances, and workshops on local beverages are the attractions among others.“Strawberries thrive in Meghalaya due to favorable conditions and hardworking farmers,” Vijay Kumar D, commissioner and secretary, department of tourism, stated at the inaugural programme held at Sohliya. “Fests like the Strawberry Festival, by integrating tourism with strawberry cultivation, aim to boost livelihoods and enterprises,” he said.

District to get major tourism boost

Ernakulam's tourism department plans to introduce star travel lounge, Hortus Malabaricus museum, and a cruise boat service in Fort Kochi. They aim to develop the boat jetty complex and new AC terminal to enhance tourism.
