Dhankhar lays foundation for Meghalaya skill hub

Shillong: Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for Meghalaya Skill and Innovation Hub, before launching the CM Business Catalyst: Student B-Plan Challenge, with IIM Shillong. He also presided over the signing of an MoU between UNDP and Govt of Meghalaya on entrepreneurship promotion.Meghalaya Skill and Innovation Hub will be constructed over 6.54 acres of land in New Shillong and will cost Rs 77.5 cr.Speaking at the occasion, Dhankar lauded CM Conrad K Sangma for providing a platform to the youth for showcasing their potential.He said that the hub will go a long way in promoting entrepreneurship in Meghalaya and expressed hope that human resources in the state will get a boost.“Making the youth skilled is the need of the hour”, Dhankar said, before adding that PM Modi had opened a “window of opportunities” for the youth with the help of different programmes. He also informed that Rs 60,000 Cr has been earmarked for making five lakh youth of the state skilled in the next five years. “Empowerment of the youth will ensure big economic upsurge in the country,” he added.Conrad said, “85% of our population is below the age of 45. The youth is our greatest strength and asset and we have initiated a programme that can channelize their strength.” He further said that the govt has different programmes through which the youth were trained to contribute towards the growth of the state.Meanwhile, governor CH Vijayashankar highlighted the strength and rich resources of the state.

Skill programme to connect youth with employment to be named after Devi Ahilyabai

A skill program named after Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar will be launched to connect youth with employment, as announced by CM Mohan Yadav on her 300th birth anniversary. Additionally, 'Ahilya Lok' and a textile tourism village will be developed in Maheshwar. Yadav emphasized her impact on governance, service, and women's empowerment.

Innovation takes centre stage at Youth Ideathon

Youth Ideathon 2024, an entrepreneurship competition, saw 1.8 lakh students from 5,000+ schools participate. Govt renames state skills devpt univ after Tata

The Maharashtra State Kaushalya Vidyapeeth is now named Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Kaushalya Vidyapeeth to honor industrialist Ratan Tata's contributions to industry and skill development. Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha highlighted Tata's role in fostering technical growth and the institution's alignment with his vision. The renaming aims to enhance Maharashtra's role in providing skilled workers.
