Meghalaya hands over body of Awami League leader found dead in state to kin

Shillong: The body of Bangladesh Awami League youth leader, Ishaque Ali Khan Panna, was handed over to his family on Saturday through the Dawki-Tamabil checkpoint in Meghalaya.Police officers, BSF personnel and govt officials from India and officials of the Bangladesh High Commission and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel were present during the handing over of the body of the slain student leader.SP (West Jaintia Hills) C Syrti said the entire exercise was completed after 11am and the authorised persons from Bangladesh left with the body in an ambulance. A BSF official said the body was taken to his native place in Nam village, Banani, Dhaka.Earlier, deputy CM in-charge (home) Prestone Tynsong had said since they suspect it is a case of murder, forensic examination would reveal the actual cause of death of the Bangladesh leader.

What Bangladesh's interim govt minister said on Sheikh Hasina's extradition

Touhid Hossain, Bangladesh's foreign affairs advisor, has stated that India might be obligated to extradite Sheikh Hasina if requested by the Bangladeshi ministries. Currently residing in India and facing multiple charges, including murder, Hasina's extradition is subject to the 2013 treaty amended in 2016. The treaty does not classify murder as a political offence.

Yunus promises interfaith harmony in Bangladesh

Prof Muhammad Yunus, the interim chief adviser of Bangladesh, reiterated his commitment to equal rights and justice for all citizens. Speaking to Hindu leaders about issues like the seizure of Hindu properties, Yunus emphasized unity and protecting rights. Meanwhile, the BNP expressed disappointment, claiming Yunus failed to offer a clear roadmap for democratic transition.
