Meghalaya guv, CM launch ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign

Shillong: Governor C H Vijayashankar, alongside cabinet minister Abu Taher Mondal, launched the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.In his address, the governor expressed his delight in participating in the launch, highlighting the campaign’s objective of displaying the national flag in every household, a vision set forth by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized the campaign’s role in promoting patriotism and unity across the nation.Governor Vijayashankar underscored the significance of this initiative, which was introduced during India’s 75th Independence anniversary, in fostering national pride and encouraging a deep sense of patriotism.The governor also took the opportunity to recognise Meghalaya’s contributions to India’s freedom struggle, mentioning prominent freedom fighters such as U Tirot Sing, Kiang Nangbah, and Pa Togan Sangma. The event included the distribution of national flags and the launch of two books published by the State Department of Arts and Culture: “U Tirot Sing” and “Bravehearts and Champions of Freedom from the Hills”.Government officials, police personnel, NCC cadets, and members of self-help groups attended the program, according to a communiqué from Raj Bhavan.

Maharashtra govt to launch 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign ahead of Independence Day

The state cabinet decided to implement Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan from August 9 to August 15, where the tricolor would be hoisted on 2.5 crore houses and establishments. Various programs like Tricolor Yatra and Tricolor Pledge were organized. Unlike 2022, national flags were not provided for free and were available for Rs 25.
