Meghalaya CM inaugurates college named after his father

Shillong: Marking a significant milestone in the education sector in the state, CM Conrad K Sangma recently inaugurated the academic session of Rongjeng Model Degree College in East Garo Hills and also announced the official sanction for the Rongjeng Stadium, with a budget of Rs 9.25 crore.“Late PA Sangma had envisioned this institution in 2013. Unfortunately, it could not be realised during his tenure. However, when the NPP came to power, the Centre sanctioned two colleges. We acquired land for this college in Rongjeng, fulfilling Late PA Sangma’s dream. I am pleased to announce that this college will be named PA Sangma Rongjeng Model Degree College,” the CM said in reference to his father, who was Lok Sabha speaker and also CM of the state. He said sanctions had been made for the college’s development, including Rs 93 lakh for water supply.

Khalsa College to set up Air Care Centre

Clean Air Punjab and Asar Social Impact Advisors have signed an MOU with Khalsa College for Women, Amritsar to set up a Clean Air Punjab Air Care Centre. This initiative aims to prevent stubble burning and address air quality issues through various programs. Panel to monitor, regulate nursing college fees

In response to complaints about high fees, the government has established a regulatory committee to oversee nursing college fee structures. Headed by the joint secretary of the medical education department, the committee will enforce compliance with prescribed fee limits and inspect facilities. Non-compliant colleges risk losing essential certificates, aiming to enhance infrastructure and maintain fair fees.
