Medulance bid to run health emergency services in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: Medulance, an emergency services provider, on Sunday said it is one of the bidders for running health emergency services in Meghalaya.

Medulance aims to reduce response time while shifting patients to hospitals in the challenging landscape, officials said here.

"Our goal is to deploy a fleet of 5G smart connected ambulances in the state soon. The initiative will bring cutting-edge technology to the forefront of emergency response and improve the chances of saving lives in the state," Medulance Healthcare co-founder Pranav Bajaj said in a statement.

Gaza's only cancer hospital goes out of service - health officials

The only cancer treatment hospital in the Gaza Strip has stopped operating due to a lack of fuel. The hospital, which treats mainly cancer patients, has used up all its fuel and is now out of service. This brings the total number of non-operational hospitals in the Strip to 16 out of 35. The lives of 70 cancer patients in the hospital are now at risk. The ongoing Israeli aggression and displacement of a large number of people has led to catastrophic health conditions for around 2,000 cancer patients in Gaza.

Man arrested for running turtle home delivery service at New Town

The kingpin of a gang involved in delivering turtles to customers' doorsteps in Kolkata has been arrested. The accused, Sankar Mondal, was caught with two Indian softshell turtles weighing 5kg each. The gang would receive orders over the phone and sell the turtles for meat. Forest department officers posed as buyers and apprehended Mondal during a sting operation. Further investigations are being conducted to determine the source of the turtles and identify other members of the gang. Selling or killing these turtles is illegal and can result in imprisonment and fines.

El Salvador declares state of emergency over Tropical Storm Pilar

El Salvador has declared a state of emergency ahead of the arrival of Tropical Storm Pilar. The storm is expected to bring heavy rainfall and flash flooding to Central America. Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua are also at risk. El Salvador is particularly vulnerable to natural disasters, with nearly 90 percent of its territory prone to floods, landslides, and constant tremors. Last year, the country was affected by Tropical Storm Julia, resulting in fatalities and economic losses.
