J&K & Ladakh foundation day celebrated in Shillong

SHILLONG: In line with the Centre’s ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ programme to enhance interaction and promote mutual understanding among people of different states and UTs, the foundation day of J &K and Ladakh was celebrated at the Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday. A cultural evening was organised with Meghalaya governor Phagu Chauhan as the chief guest.

“The foundation day of J&K also coincided with the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ or National Unity Day, which marks the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. On the occasion, the governor administered the National Unity Day pledge to foster and fortify the unity, integrity and security of our nation,” a Raj Bhavan communique said.
“The cultural evening witnessed a splendid array of performances showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of the two UTs. A special troupe of performers from Ladakh wowed the audience with their impeccable musical prowess,” the statement said.

PM Modi also highlighted India's resilience and determination in the face of global challenges and praised the abrogation of Article 370. He emphasized the significance of the Statue of Unity in showcasing Sardar Patel's contributions in building a united India.
