J&K & Ladakh foundation day celebrated in Shillong

SHILLONG: In line with the Centre’s ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ programme to enhance interaction and promote mutual understanding among people of different states and UTs, the foundation day of J &K and Ladakh was celebrated at the Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday. A cultural evening was organised with Meghalaya governor Phagu Chauhan as the chief guest.

“The foundation day of J&K also coincided with the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ or National Unity Day, which marks the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. On the occasion, the governor administered the National Unity Day pledge to foster and fortify the unity, integrity and security of our nation,” a Raj Bhavan communique said.

“The cultural evening witnessed a splendid array of performances showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of the two UTs. A special troupe of performers from Ladakh wowed the audience with their impeccable musical prowess,” the statement said.

Foundation day of 8 states, 5 UTs to be observed at Raj Bhavan

The Raj Bhavan in Goa will celebrate the foundation day of eight states and five Union territories on November 1. Former Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu and Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai will be present at the event. The celebration is part of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme, and will include a cultural programme following the inaugural event. This is the third time that Goa Raj Bhavan is celebrating the foundation day of other states.

LG Sinha flags off 'Run for Unity' to mark Sardar Patel's birth anniversary

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, flagged off the 'Run for Unity' event in Srinagar to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event saw the participation of hundreds of people, including students and sportspersons. Sinha paid tribute to Patel, highlighting his role in unifying the country and defending its sovereignty. Sinha called on the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir to work towards making the nation a developed country by 2047, in line with Patel's vision.

PM Narendra Modi addresses National Unity Day event in Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a National Unity Day event at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, referring to October 31 as a "festival of communication of nationalism". He paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary and spoke about the importance of unity in achieving India's goals. PM Modi also highlighted India's resilience and determination in the face of global challenges and praised the abrogation of Article 370. He emphasized the significance of the Statue of Unity in showcasing Sardar Patel's contributions in building a united India.
