“The International Mart has been planned as a Green Event by adopting low carbon options on the lines of the action points formulated by Union ministry of environment, forest and climate change for implementation of ‘Mission LiFE’ and sensitizing the tourism stakeholders and generating greater awareness about its objectives. There will be no use of SUP (single-use plastic) and a digital and paperless route will be followed as well as a tree plantation drive will be undertaken,” an official statement said on Monday.
In Tashkent, Goa presents its medical tourism credentials
Goa Tourism delegation attended the Tashkent International Tourism Fair in Uzbekistan to promote Goa as a medical tourism destination. They engaged with Uzbek travel agents to promote charter flights to Goa. The Indian Embassy in Uzbekistan provided space for Goa Tourism at the fair, and the ambassador of India to Uzbekistan, Manish Prabhat, expressed the need to promote Goa as a medical tourism hub. Goa Tourism also aims to attract more tourists from Uzbekistan and neighboring central Asian nations.
Election Commission suspends Telangana tourism MD for code breach
The Election Commission of India has suspended the MD of Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) and sacked the OSD to the MD for violating the model code of conduct. The officials had accompanied a cabinet minister during his visit to Tirumala last month. The ECI has initiated departmental proceedings against the MD and his OSD and has sought an explanation from the tourism department principal secretary. Guidelines state that officers should not receive or see off cabinet ministers during election tours.
Notifying Maimollem as wetland will boost its tourism profile: Salkar
The local MLA in Vasco, Krishna Salkar, is urging residents to support the proposal to declare the Maimollem water body as a wetland. Salkar believes that this designation will enhance the tourism profile of the area and benefit the town. The Maimollem lake has been unchanged for 50 years but now faces sewage accumulation. The wetland authority has issued a notification and is seeking feedback on the proposal. Salkar highlights that declaring the lake a wetland would enable activities such as boating for tourists, and emphasizes the importance of conserving the lake for future generations.
