MHA declares outfit founded by Geelani 'unlawful association'
The Centre designates Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH), founded by Syed Ali Shah Geelani, as an 'unlawful association' for five years. The group aims to separate J&K from India and establish Islamic rule. The ban comes after J&K Muslim League was also labelled an 'unlawful association'. TeH is involved in terrorism, anti-India propaganda, funding through Pakistan, and supporting terrorist activities. TeH members pay tributes to terrorists and boycott assembly elections. Geelani's protest calendars caused major protests in J&K.
