BSF thwarts cattle smuggling bid to B’desh, nabs 6 in West Garo Hills

Shillong: BSF (Meghalaya Frontier), which is tasked with manning the 444km stretch of India-Bangladesh border that the state shares with the neighbouring country, has been thwarting attempts at smuggling of cattle and various other items regularly, the latest such operation having been conducted on Wednesday.
A BSF spokesperson said 69 cattle heads, which were meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh and loaded in four pick-up vehicles, were rescued by vigilant troops of the paramilitary force and six Indian nationals were apprehended at the international border in West Garo Hills district.
The operation was carried out jointly by BSF Meghalaya and the state police near the border village of Dalu. The seized cattle and apprehended persons were handed over to the police station at Dalu for further legal action.

Stray cattle kills woman in Haryana's Kurukshetra

In Kurukshetra, a 65-year-old woman named Gurpreet Kaur died after being attacked by a stray cow outside her home in Patel Nagar. The animal continued its assault even after she fell. Despite efforts from her family and neighbors to drive the cow away, Kaur succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
