BSF foils sugar smuggling bid in Meghalaya

Shillong: In a joint operation with Meghalaya Police, BSF on Friday successfully foiled a bid to smuggle over 50,000 kg of sugar along the India-Bangladesh border.The operation took place at Maheshkhola in South West Khasi Hills district. The confiscated sugar was handed over to the respective police station for further necessary legal action, a statement by Meghalaya frontier HQ of BSF said on Saturday.

INS Sumitra foils two hijacking bids in 36 hours in Arabian Sea

Indian warship INS Sumitra rescued hijacked Iranian-flagged fishing vessel Al Naeemi and her 19-member Pakistani crew. Indian Navy also helped Seychelles and Sri Lanka intercept hijacked Sri Lankan-flagged fishing trawler Lorenzo Putha-04 and her six-member crew. INS Sumitra through swift, persistent and relentless efforts rescued two hijacked fishing vessels along with 36 crew within 36 hours.
