BSF foils smuggling bid along Meghalaya border

Shillong: About 7,050kg of sugar and 6,050kg of betel nuts were seized in South Garo Hills district on Tuesday, in a joint operation by BSF (Meghalaya frontier force) and Meghalaya Police.
“Based on specific information, BSF troops from the 200 battalion, in collaboration with Meghalaya Police, conducted an operation near the India-Bangladesh border, which led to the recovery of the sugar and dry betel nuts from an abandoned house,” a BSF spokesperson said. The seized items have been handed over to Rongra police station,” the spokesperson added.
