BSF foils bid to smuggle sugar to Bangladesh

Shillong: Troops of the Meghalaya Frontier of the BSF yet again thwarted an attempt to smuggle sugar to Bangladesh across the international border and apprehended two persons, BSF officials said.
“In a proactive operation, on January 10, 2024, the vigilant troops of 4 Battalion BSF Meghalaya successfully intercepted a vehicle loaded with Sugar meant to be smuggled into Bangladesh and apprehended two Indian nationals near the Lyngkhat bordering area in East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya,” a spokesperson at the Meghalaya Frontier headquarters said.
“BSF troops identified and intercepted a vehicle loaded with sugar, which was approaching the bordering area on Lyngkhat- Pyrdwah road. Upon questioning, the driver and co- driver failed to produce any valid documents pertaining to the consignment of sugar,” the BSF spokesperson said.
